LAURINBURG, N.C.—Seniors Dan Hartzell and Zach Mryncza were named 2007 men’s lacrosse All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) last week for a St. Andrews Presbyterian College team that finished the season ranked No. 9 in the final national poll.
Dan Hartzell, a middie from Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, was named to the Division II Second Team All-Midfield Team.
“Dan really came in to his own over the last two years,” said third year St. Andrews Head Coach Michael Lawson. “He was a huge part of what we did at the midfield over the last couple of years.”
Hartzell ranked fourth on the Knights squad with 40 points (top midfielder). Hartzell tallied 31 goals and nine assists including three game-winning goals and 36 ground balls.
Zach Mryncza, an attack from Baltimore, Maryland, was named to the Division II Honorable Mention All-Attack Team.
“Zach has had an extremely impressive career here,” said Lawson. “He led D-II in overall points this year and holds the all time scoring record at St. Andrews with 236 career points.”
Mryncza led a potent Knights attack with a staggering 88 points including 48 goals and 40 assists. Mryncza also had three game-winning goals and 50 ground balls.
“These guys, along with others, helped us have the top scoring offense in D-II and the most wins in a season for this program. They will both be missed dearly,” concluded Lawson.
