LAURINBURG, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s lacrosse team is currently ranked No. 10 in the first NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse National Poll released on Monday by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).
The Knights, behind third year head coach Michael Lawson, have started the 2007 season with two straight dominating victories. SAPC opened up the year with a convincing 19-8 victory over regional foe Mars Hill College. The Knights followed up with an impressive 19-6 road victory over Pfeiffer University in their Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference opener.
Senior pre-season All-American Zach Mryncza (Baltimore, Md.) leads St. Andrews (2-0 Overall; 1-0 CVAC) with 18 points. Mryncza and sophomore Cole Howell (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) are tied for the team-lead with 10 goals apiece. Senior Dalen Crouse (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) also has eight goals and eight assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Nate Hull (Millersville, Md.) has both wins in net for the Knights allowing just 6.26 goals per game.
St. Andrews will go for their third straight victory to start the season when they host Wheeling Jesuit University today (Wednesday, February 28) at 3:30 p.m.
