Three Knights lacrosse players named Pre-Season All-Americans
December 8, 2006 BALTIMORE, Md.—Inside Lacrosse magazine has released Face-Off Yearbook's list of preseason All-Americans for Division II men's lacrosse and has named St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s John Osterritter, Zach Mryncza, and Dan Hartzell to that prestigious list. Sophomore defender John Osterritter (Arnold, Md.) was selected to the Pre-Season Second Team All-American list after starting all 15 games for the Knights in his freshman season last year. Osterritter posted three goals and one assist in his rookie campaign as a defender and was named a 2006 STX/USILA All-American and a First Team Deep South All-Conference selection. Senior attack Zach Mryncza (Baltimore, Md.) was selected to the Pre-Season Honorable Mention All-American list. Mryncza led the Knights offense in 2006 with 38 goals, 31 assists, and 69 points. Mryncza, a 2006 First Team All-DSC honoree, also led SAPC in his freshman season with 53 points (20 goals, 33 assists). Senior middie Dan Hartzell (Lacombe, Alberta, Canada) was also selected to the Pre-Season Honorable Mention All-American list. Hartzell was second on the Knights roster in scoring last year with 33 goals, 15 assists, and 48 points which earned Hartzell 2006 First Team All-DSC acclaim. In 2005, Hartzell had 16 goals and six assists. In his freshman season of 2004, Hartzell also had nine goals and 10 assists. St. Andrews, which will be competing in the newly formed Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference for men’s lacrosse, was also picked to finish second behind No. 7 nationally ranked Limestone College in the CVAC Preseason Rankings released by Inside Lacrosse. The three pre-season All-Americans (Osterritter, Mryncza, and Hartzell) and senior midfielder Tony Ferreira (Youngsville, N.C.) were also named to the Face-Off Yearkbook’s 11-man Pre-Season CVAC All-Conference list.
