Final Men's Results

CLEMMONS, N.C.—Senior John Kolls (Durham, N.C.), who was named to the men’s golf All-CVAC First Team on Sunday, finished just five strokes behind the conference medalist to finish third out 48 golfers and pace the St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s golf team at the 2007 CVAC Golf Championships at the Salem Glen Golf & Country Club.

Kolls, who notched his sixth top-10 finish of 2006-07, earned his All-CVAC First Team honors after shooting 21 of his 23 competitive rounds this year in either the 60’s or 70’s. Kolls fired rounds of 71, 70, and 73 on the 6,810-yard, par-71 layout for a one-over par 214 total. Kolls has lowered his stroke average to an even 74.0.

Kolls has shot seven rounds of par or better in his senior campaign and will await the 2007 NCAA Division II men’s golf selection announcement on Friday afternoon to see if he qualifies as an individual for the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Savannah, Georgia (hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State) on May 7-9. Kolls just missed qualifying for nationals at the ’06 Atlantic Regional finishing tied for 4th.

St. Andrews finished ninth out of nine CVAC schools in the team competition with a 54-hole total of 914. The last seven teams were all bunched within 29 strokes of each other.

Junior Alfred Kristinsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) provided three consistent 18-hole scorecards of 78 to finish tied for 36th with a three-day total of 234. Senior Alvin Yeung (Markham, Ontario, Canada) and freshman Scott Bennett (Laurinburg, N.C.) were two strokes behind Kristinsson with a pair of 236’s.

Yeung, who was also an All-CVAC selection making the ’07 Second Team, posted rounds of 81, 81, and 74. Bennett signed scorecards of 78, 77, and 81. Yeung was an All-CVAC award winner all four years at SAPC and the 2004 CVAC Freshman of the Year.

Sophomore Dwight Meeker (Ocoee, Fla.) concluded the Knights play with an 83-76-80—239.
