JACKSONVILLE, N.C.—The Camp LeJeune Intercollegiate features 32 teams playing in a dual format. As the collegians play in a 54-hole stroke play event against each other, they also played the first two days with marines from the military base at Camp LeJeune , North Carolina in a Pro-AM event.

The Intercollegiate is played on two courses on the military base. On day one half the field plays the seven thousand plus yard Gold Course (Par 72). The other half of the course plays the shorter Scarlet Course (Par 70).

St. Andrews opened up the tournament playing the 6,016-yard, par-70 Scarlett Course on Friday. The Knights shot a three-over 283 in the first round. Senior Alvin Yeung (Markham, Ontario, Canada) led SAPC with a team tournament-low, two-under par 68. Freshman Scott Bennett (Laurinburg, N.C.) carded an even-par 70; junior Alfred Kristinsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) signed a 72; senior John Kolls (Durham, N.C.) posted a 73; and senior Rebel Kennedy (Sundridge, Ontario, Canada) completed play with a 75.

The Knights moved over to the much tougher test in the 7,040-yard, par-72 Gold Course on Saturday. St. Andrews finished with a 15-over 303. The two-day total of 586 (+18) put the Knights in 22nd place out of 32 teams. Kolls led St. Andrews on the second day firing an impressive one-under 71. Kolls and Yeung, who shot a 76 on Saturday, finished tied for 42nd out of 150 golfers to pace St. Andrews with two-over totals of 144. Kristinsson finished in 85th with a 148 (72-76) mark while Bennett (70-80—150) and Kennedy (75-88—163) capped the Knights play.

After Saturday, all 32 teams have now played 18 holes on both the long Gold Course and short Scarlet course. The tournament then split into two separate events with the top-16 teams in the field playing on the Gold Course. The winner of the Gold Tournament wins the coveted Military sword and scabbard given at the Collegiate to the winning team.

On the Scarlet Course, the consolation event competed on Sunday with St. Andrews finishing fourth out of 16 teams. SAPC once again tallied a three-over 283 on the Scarlet Course to finish nine strokes from the victory.

Kolls finished tied for seventh out of 80 entrants in the one-day event with a one-under par 69. Yeung and Kristinsson followed one stroke behind with even par rounds of 70, which was good for a tie for 13th place. Bennett and Kennedy tied at 47th with four-over 74’s.
