St. Andrews men's golf sits in 8th place after Day 1 of Spring Invite

Round One Results

VASS, N.C.—The Queens University of Charlotte men’s golf team holds a seven stroke lead in the Fourth Annual St. Andrews Spring Invitational at the Woodlake Resort & Golf Club after Monday’s first round.

Queens shot a 23-over 311 on Monday to take a seven shot advantage over Mount Olive College (318) and eight shot advantage over Ferris State University (319) heading into Tuesday’s final round that will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Anderson University (S.C.) sits in fourth with a 320 and the University of Findley is fifth posting a 322. Tied for sixth place are Pittsburgh State University and Northwood University ( Mich.) with rounds of 329. Host St. Andrews Presbyterian College is eighth after totaling a 334 and Kentucky State University rounds out the field with a 348.

Pacing the front-running Royals is Iain Hall, who is tied for first after firing a one-over 73 on the 6,791-yard, par-72 Maples Course. Eric Atsma of Findlay is the overnight co-leader with Hall after also carding a 73. Sitting one stroke back is Anderson’s Adam Sheriff with a 74. In a two-way tie for fourth is Scott Kegerreis II (Queens) and Scott Woodard ( Mount Olive).

Senior John Kolls leads St. Andrews with an eight-over 80. Sophomore Alfred Kristinsson followed with an 83. Senior Alvin Yeung and freshman Scott Bennett shot an 85 and 86, respectively, while senior Rebel Kennedy concluded the Knights play with a 100.
