Official CVAC Press Release
THOMASVILLE, N.C.—Alvin Yeung, a senior from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) Men’s Golfer of the Month for October 2006.
Yeung posted a 70.0 scoring average in two tournaments to pace the St. Andrews men's golf team in impressive finishes to conclude the fall portion of their schedule.
Yeung carded a team season-low five-under par and tournament low 66 in the final round of the Tusculum Fall Classic to finish second out of 53 golfers. Yeung's six-under 136 two-day sum helped the Knights to their best total of the year (292-283-575) and a second place finish out of nine teams. The Markham, Ontario, Canada native posted another top-10 finish in the Queen City Shootout with a 74 in the rain-shortened event. He led the Knights with a tie for seventh place, in a field of 90 golfers, as St. Andrews finished seventh out of 18 teams.
Yeung's 70.20 scoring average for the year has been good enough for four out-of-five rounds under par. This ranks him 30th in the NCAA (DI, DII, & DIII) in the Golfstat Cup Standings and third overall out of all Division II golfers.
