Yeung leads Knights golfers to second at Tusculum October 3, 2006 GREENEVILLE, Tenn.—For the second straight week Alvin Yeung (Markham, Ontario, Canada) finished second individually, with this weeks two-day total of six-under par 136 helping the St. Andrews men’s golf team to a second place finish out of nine teams in the Tusculum Fall Classic at the Link Hills Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. Yeung has started his senior campaign on fire with four consecutive rounds under par. After an opening one-under 70 on Monday, Yeung posted the low-round of the tournament in Tuesday’s finale. Yeung’s five-under 66 on the 6,763-yard, par-71 layout was good for a runner-up finish out of 53 golfers. Yeung’s 69.25 scoring average leads the Knights golf team. Host Tusculum College won the team title with a pair of one-under 283’s for a 566 total. Chase Carroll led the Pioneers to victory by winning the individual medalist honors with an eight-under 67-67=134. St. Andrews finished nine strokes back in second with a 292-283=575 total. Tuesday’s 283 total was a season-low for the Knights, who have steadily improved in each of their four fall tournaments in 2006. Junior Alfred Kristinsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) finished 12th for SAPC by carding a 74-72=146 (+4). One stroke further back in 14th was freshman Matt Doyle (LaQuinta, Calif.), who signed for a 70-77=147 (+5). Freshman Scott Bennett (Laurinburg, N.C.) made biggest turnaround for the Knights by rebounding with an 82-69=151 (+9). The under-par rounds of 69 and 70 by Bennett and Doyle, respectively, are collegiate low-rounds for the SAPC newcomers. Senior John Kolls (Durham, N.C.) concluded the scoring with a 78-76=154 (+12). Kolls has been the Knights most consistent golfer with all nine fall tournament rounds in the 70’s. St. Andrews will conclude the fall portion of the 2006-07 campaign at the Greater Charlotte Shootout (hosted by Belmont Abbey College) at the Rocky River Golf Club on October 16-17.
