Nahm resigns as SAPC head golf coach

May 30, 2006

LAURINBURG, NC—Josh Nahm, head men’s and women’s golf coach at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, has announced his resignation to pursue other golf career interests effective June 1.

Nahm, a 2003 alumnus of SAPC, will be taking a job as a head instructor at the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, SC. Nahm will be instructing 9th-12th graders for the Academy, one of the nation’s most elite junior golf programs.

“Coach Nahm has been a very strong supporter of  St. Andrews both with the golf program which has improved steadily during his coaching tenure and within the greater SA community,” said Athletic Director Howard Reichner. “His humor and friendship will be missed by all. We wish him great success in his new position.”

“I am very thankful for the opportunity that I had at St. Andrews,” said Nahm. “I want to wish the best to Howard Reichner and the whole athletic staff and I will greatly miss all of the guys and girls who have made this a great three years for me here at St. Andrews.”

Nahm was a four-year starter for the Knights men’s golf team, where he was a two-time All-CVAC selection and a two-time participant in the NCAA Atlantic Regional including an All-Regional honoree his junior year. Nahm was a three-time team MVP and team captain twice.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration with a concentration in finance, accounting and marketing, Nahm served as an assistant golf coach for one season before taking over the helm of both the men’s and women’s programs.

In his first season, Nahm helped transform the young Knights women’s golf team into a competitive squad. Nahm was named the 2005 CVAC women’s golf Coach of the Year after helping the team improve its best tournament round by more than 100 strokes.

On the men’s side, Nahm guided the squad to fourth-place finishes in both the CVAC Tournament and the Atlantic Regional in 2006, which are both NCAA Division II era records at SAPC.

In just two years as the head coach, Nahm coached six All-CVAC selections, five tournament medalists, and one team tournament title. The Carson City, Nev., native led the Knights to back-to-back trips to the NCAA Regional and also helped develop the fall and spring St. Andrews Golf Invitational’s into popular collegiate tournaments.

A search committee will be formed to find the next St. Andrews men’s and women’s golf coach.
