Charleston, SC- The St. Andrews University men’s cross country team made a fantastic showing this weekend at the Hagan Stone Class and took the first place spot for the second year in a row.
Senior James Walls (Bear Creek, NC) finished second for his division by completing the race in 27:25.73. Following on Walls’ heels, freshman Dagmawi Abebe (Gaithersburg, MD) came in second in the division with an impressive time of 27:49.80. The Knights had an impressive showing at the Classic as all five harriers finished in the top 15.
A few steps behind, Tyler Beaver (Hillsborough, NC) crossed the finish line third for SAU, earning a fifth place finish overall in his division. Freshmen Patrick Ochoa (Derwood, MD) and Brandon Watson (Benson, NC) finished out the Knights’ scoring 3:00 minutes later, as they crossed less than one minute apart, capturing the 14 and 15 spots respectively.
The 8k Hagan Stone Classic featured several D-I, D-II, and D-II institutions, such as UNC Chapel Hill (club team), High Point University, Duke University (club team), Catawba College, Pfeiffer University, and UNC Greensboro.
The Knights will toe the line for their last regular season race this Saturday, October 8 as they journey to Travelers Rest, SC, to run at Furman.
