Full Men's Results
Wilmington, NC- SAPC Senior James Walls (Bear Creek, NC) clocked an impressive 16:10.59, taking 8th place out of 91, at today’s cross country race at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Walls’ and his teammates earned the Knights Men’s Cross Country team a 5th place finish out of the 10 schools that were at the event.
Walls' quick feet helped keep the team’s total points low, allowing them to finish in the middle of the pack as a set. Freshman harrier Dagmawi Abebe (Gaithersburg, MD) put his young legs to work as he finished second for the Knights. Abebe grabbed the number 28 spot with time of 16:54.48.
Campbell University’s (Bois Creek, NC) DeLohnni Nicol-Samuel took first place with an outstanding time of 15:24.40, 10 seconds ahead of his closest competitor. Wil Zahorodny of UNC-W captured 2 nd (15:35.40), while another Campbell Camel snagged 3rd (15:46.99).
The Fab Five showed the potential that the young St. Andrews squad has, as they all finished in the top 2/3 of the contenders. Patrick Ochoa (Derwood, MD) crossed the line next for the Knights, in the 46th spot (17:47.09). The final two members of the quintet were by no means slow, as they finished a solid five minutes before the final runner. Freshmen Tyler Beaver (Hillsborough, NC) and Brandon Watson (Benson, NC) finished 50th and 66 th respectively, with times of 17:58.87 and 18.26.65.
