HIGH POINT, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Doug Holt has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's cross country Runner of the Week during week number seven in the 2009 season.

Junior Doug Holt won his first collegiate race on Friday afternoon, winning the inaugural Mount Olive Invitational individual title and helping the St. Andrews Presbyterian College men's cross country team to a third place team finish out of seven teams.

Holt bested the field of 51 harriers with a season-best time of 27:01.00 in the 8,000-meter (8k) race. Holt was just four seconds off his collegiate PR time of 26:57 (set at the 2007 Conference Carolinas Championships).

The Haddonfield, N.J., native has paced the Knights to the finish line in all four races this season and has now received this award twice this year.

Holt is a two-time Conference Runner of the Week this season (Sept. 16, 2009).

Holt and the St. Andrews cross country teams will next compete in the 2009 Conference Carolinas Championships on Friday, October 23. Queens University of Charlotte will be hosting the races at the McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. The women’s 5k race is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., followed by the men’s 8k race at 5 p.m.
