GREENSBORO, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College cross country squads posted a pair of third-place finishes in a diverse field at the 2009 Hagan Stone Park Cross Country Classic hosted by the Greensboro Pacesetters on Saturday morning.

Junior Tommy Wilson (pictured) recorded a collegiate PR in a 8k race for St. Andrews on Saturday morning at the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic.

The top-four St. Andrews men’s harriers all posted season-best times in an 8,000-meter (8k) race as the Knights finished in third place out of NCAA Division II teams with 58 points. King College won the team title with 19 points while Wingate University barely held off SAPC for second place with 50 points. The Knights easily claimed a top-three result as fourth place Bluefield State had more than twice as many points at 120.

The junior tandem of Doug Holt (Haddonfield, N.J.) and James Walls (Bear Creek, N.C.) were both recognized after the race for posting top-10 finishes in the DII ranks.

Holt led the Knights across the finish line for the third consecutive race in third place with a blazing speed of 27:02.5. Holt finished 11th overall out of 88 total runners when you include entrants from the Division I & III levels. Holt has two straight top-10 results and has finished in top-20 in all three competitions this season when factoring in Division I competition.

Walls snagged eighth place by clocking in at 27:53.0 for his first top-10 finish of the season.

Junior Tommy Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) posted a career PR in an 8k race with a time of 29:14.6. Wilson was the 14th Division II endurance runner to complete the Hagan Stone course.

The next three St. Andrews harriers all finished within one minute of each other taking 16th, 17th, and 18th place. Senior Brad McKee (Kings Mountain, N.C.) led the trio with a speed of 30:08.7; junior Jon Lecker (Minneola, Fla.) followed a couple seconds later at 30:20.1; while freshman Will James (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) posted a mark of 30:53.3. Junior James Lloyd (Lusby, Md.) wrapped up SAPC competition at 33:05.0.

St. Andrews concludes its regular season at the inaugural Mount Olive College Invitational in Mount Olive, N.C. on Friday afternoon (October 9) in preparation for the Conference Carolinas Championships in three weeks.
