GREENSBORO, N.C.—Junior Jon Lecker (Minneola, Fla.) was the only Knights upperclassmen to run a person record (PR) time in a 8k race, helping the St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s cross country team to a fourth place finish out of nine teams at the 2009 Guilford College Cross Country Carnival on Saturday morning.

Lecker traversed the Meadows Course trails on the Guilford campus in 29:34.7, marking the first time he has broken the 30 minute barrier.
Junior Doug Holt (Haddonfield, N.J.) -- the reigning Conference Carolinas Men’s Runner of the Week -- was the first SAPC harrier to cross the finish line with an impressive sixth place finish out of 75 harriers. Holt blazed the endurance race in 27:36.7, only 25 seconds behind the race winner.
Fellow junior James Walls (Bear Creek, N.C.) added a top-20 finish for the Knights. Walls was the 14th place collegiate finisher with a time of 28:13.4.
Lecker and junior Tommy Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) pushed each other, completing the endurance race within three seconds of each other. Wilson took 27th overall clocking in at 29:31.4 while Lecker following one place behind at 29:34.7. Wilson was only five seconds off his collegiate PR.
Freshman Will James (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) was the Knights fifth scoring runner for the Knights, posting a benchmark time of 30:04.6 in his first collegiate 8k race.
St. Andrews scored 111 points at Guilford, placing the Knights in the upper half of the field. The Knights finished fourth overall behind Washington and Lee University (34), Bridgewater College (58), and Wingate University (74).
The senior tandem of Brad McKee (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and James Lloyd (Lusby, Md.) rounded out the Knights running at Guilford. McKee posted a time of 30:49.3 and Lloyd ran a 31.32.5.
St. Andrews will return to Greensboro, N.C., in two weeks for the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic hosted by the Greensboro Pacesetters on Saturday, October 3.
