The Knights are scheduled to compete in four races across North Carolina prior to late season championship competition that includes the Conference Carolinas Championships, NCAA Southeast Regional, and potentially the NCAA National Championships. St. Andrews will race in a minimum of six races in 2009.
The season will get underway on Friday, September 11 at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by UNC Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C. Both races on Friday evening will be 5k distances. Following the season opener, the teams will travel to Greensboro, N.C., one week later for the Guilford Cross Country Carnival hosted by Guilford College on Saturday, September 19. St. Andrews has not competed in Guilford’s race in recent history. The Lady Knights will battle in their only 6k race of the season prior to the Southeast Regional while the SAPC men start a streak of four straight 8k races.
The Knights will take a week off from competition before returning to Greensboro, N.C., for the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic on Saturday, October 3. St. Andrews returns to the Hagan Stone Classic after a one year hiatus from the event. The Knights had great success in the race from 2005-07.
