HIGH POINT, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Mitch Cooper has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's cross country Runner of the Week during week number seven in the 2008 season.
Mitch Cooper collected his third individual title and second player of week honors this season winning the Anderson University Invitational on Saturday. Cooper was the only entrant out of 49 harriers to finish the 8k course under 26 minutes with a blazing time of 25:55.4. Cooper's time was a season-best in an 8k race, helping the No. 6 Southeast Region ranked Knights team finish third.
Cooper has also won the UNC Pembroke Invitational and Belmont Abbey Invitational individual titles this year. The 2007 NCAA Division II National Championships qualifier has been named the Conference Runner of the Week four times in his collegiate career.
Cooper and the rest of the St. Andrews cross country teams will compete in the 2008 Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, October 25 in Belmont, N.C.
