Cooper named conference Runner of the Week

THOMASVILLE, N.C.—St. Andrews Presbyterian College’s Mitch Cooper has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's cross country Runner of the Week during week number six in the 2007 season.

Cooper led the St. Andrews men's cross country team for the fourth consecutive week with an impressive finish at the Hagan Stone Park Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning. Cooper finished the 6k race in 26 minutes and 55 seconds to finish eighth overall out of 126 runners. Cooper was the fourth fastest harrier out of non-Division I participants.

Cooper was the fastest Conference Carolinas runner to lead the Knights to a runner-up finish out of nine teams only losing to No. 5 Northeast region ranked NYIT.

The junior from Virginia Beach, VA helped St. Andrews to its best finish of the season heading into the Conference Carolinas Championships hosted by Converse College October 20 th.

St. Andrews next competes in the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, October 20.
