CHARLESTON, S.C.—All five of the St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s cross country scoring runners finished in the top-third of the field to lead the team to a third place finish out of nine colleges in The Citadel Invitational 8k race at James Island County Park on Saturday morning.

Junior Mitch Cooper (Virginia Beach, Va.) just missed setting a personal record (PR) in an 8,000-meter race by one second at The Citadel. Cooper’s blazing speed of 26:04 was good for third place out of 68 non-Division I entrants. Cooper finished just one spot back in fourth place out of 141 total runners when you include the fields DI participants.

Sophomore Pedro Tapia Jr. (Sanford, N.C.) posted his best race of the season placing just one spot behind Cooper in fourth with a time of 26:16. Tapia was eighth overall including the Division I universities.

Cooper has finished in the top-10 in all three races of the season for SAPC while Tapia recorded his second straight top-10.

The freshmen duo of Doug Holt (Toms River, N.J.) and Josh Pickett (Asheville, N.C.) each ran a PR in their second collegiate 8k race. Holt crossed the finish line in 11th at 27:05 and Pickett was 20th with a speed of 28:09.

Junior Perry Morris (Austin, Texas) was just three placed behind Pickett in 23rd to round out the Knights top-five scoring runners. Morris shed 43 seconds off his first 8k race time of the season by stopping the clock at 28:39 at the Citadel.

Sophomore James Lloyd (Lusby, Md.) and freshman Tommy Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) finished 33rd and 34th, respectively, with times of 29:35 and 29:38.
