SAPC cross country teams begin season regionally ranked August 31, 2007 LAURINBURG, N.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College men’s cross county team will enter the 2007 season ranked first in the Southeast Region and the women’s program begins the year ranked sixth in the region. Both Knights cross country squads are coming off impressive seasons that led to the high preseason rankings. The SAPC men’s team earned the top billing after winning the 2006 Southeast Regional. The Knights will look to defend their first-ever regional title by returning six letterwinners and adding six newcomers. St. Andrews is also coming off its best finish in the NCAA Division II National Championship race (have qualified for the past two years). The Lady Knights look to improve on their best season in the program’s D-II era finishing third in their conference race and seventh in the regional, leading to their No. 6 ranking in the Southeast Region to start ’07. SAPC will field a roster that returns seven upperclassmen and adds four freshmen. The St. Andrews harriers will begin the season on Saturday, September 8 in the Eye Opener Cross Country Meet at the Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C. The women begin at 8:00 a.m. while the men take off at 8:30 a.m. |
