Box Score

Laurinburg, NC- Ryan Streater (Charlotte, NC) drove the crowd wild by posting the game high of 31 points in tonight’s men’s basketball game against the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. The Knights took an early lead, but were unable to keep a grasp on the game. The Fleet pulled ahead and managed to maintain their advantage, despite several rallies by the Knights. The Knights pushed for a comeback, but could not catch the Fleet as Erskine put in a layup at the buzzer to end the game with a 95-85 loss for St. Andrews.

Streater shot 11-18 from the field in tonight’s matchup, including a team high of 8-10 behind the arc. Streater’s performance continued at the line, where he shot 100%, and under the basket as he picked up the team high of nine rebounds. Fellow senior Antonio Moffitt (Raleigh, NC) posted 15 total points for SAU, finding the basket from all over the court. Chris Sumski (Charlotte, NC) and Demetrius Monroe (High Point, NC) were the last two Knights to score in the double digits by adding 13 and 12 respectively.

The Royal Blue and White took charge under the hoop and grabbed 39 rebounds, overcoming the height on the floor for the Fleet. Using the 28 defensive rebounds that they snagged, the Knights were able to execute several quick, outside shots. Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) served up nine assists, leading his teammates to the basket. Ross Williams (Washington, DC) also looked for the open man and passed eight assists to help the Knights keep up with Erskine.

The Knights will spend some time on the road over the next couple of weeks as they head to Pfeiffer University, King College (TN), Queens University of Charlotte, and Lees-McRae College. For their next game, St. Andrews will make their way to Misenheimer, NC, to face the Falcons of Pfeiffer University on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7:30 PM.
