In their own words...
"As a first generation Latin American, it was different coming here, but I soon realized that I could just be me. St. Andrews is a school for people who like small classes and a close community."

Box Score

Hartsville, SC- What a night of Conference Carolinas men’s basketball! No one knew what the outcome would be of tonight’s game as Coker College hosted St. Andrews University for a back and forth game that showed each team’s desire to add a win to their record. In the end, the SAU Knights avoided the Cobras’ bite and brought home their first Conference Carolinas victory with a final score of 84-72.

Senior, guard Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) shot his way to the leading scorer position in tonight’s game as he was the only player to pass the 20 point mark. Christian managed to knock down 26 total points against the Cobras this evening; adding substantially to the Knights’ overall shooting percentages.

As a team, the Knights topped the Cobras in almost every category. The squad went 50.9% from the field, while shooting an impressive 61.5% from behind the arc; compared to the Cobras who couldn’t make their long distance shots fall, going 6-28 from the three-point line. Including a good free-throw in the final seconds of the game by Christian, SAU finished with a 71.4 shooting percentage at the line.

Boosting SAU’s score, Ryan Streater (Charlotte, NC) put up 17, followed by teammates Antonio Moffitt (Raleigh, NC), Chris Sumski (Charlotte, NC), and Ross Williams (Washington, DC) who scored 16, 11, and nine respectively.

Moffitt grabbed the team high of eight rebounds this evening as the Knights fought for control of the ball under the baskets. Pulling down six rebounds, Streater contributed the second most rebounds for SAU behind Moffitt.

Working off of their first conference win, the Knights hope to collect another victory on Saturday, January 14, as they host the Belmont Abbey College Crusaders (8-5 Overall, 2-1 Conference) at 4:00 PM. Bring your family and friends out for an exciting afternoon of basketball as the women’s team will tip-off at 2:00 PM at Harris Court on Saturday as well.

-GO KNIGHTS-
