Christian Earns a Place in the SAU Basketball Record Books

Laurinburg, NC- It was an exciting night of basketball for the Knights. After the 40 minute battle, the SAU men’s squad found themselves 10 points behind the Falcons with no time left on the clock. St. Andrews gave it all they had, but was unable to come out on top as they dropped their first Conference Carolinas game to Pfeiffer University tonight, 79-69.

Aaron Christian, an SAU senior from New Bedford, MA, thrilled the spectators at Harris Court tonight as he pulled down a triple-double; the first triple-double accomplished by a St. Andrews player in over 10 years. Christian worked for the St. Andrews defense by snagging 10 defensive rebounds. Offensively, Christian threw 10 assists to lead his teammates to the basket while also posting 10 points himself. “Ace” sunk two from long range and drilled four of his five free-throws as he propelled the Knights forward.

Charlotte, NC, native Ryan Streater led the Knights’ offense tonight after he put up 26 for the ‘Drew. Michael Dunkins (Candor, NC) pushed SAU’s offense as well by posting 16 points for St. Andrews.

Streater also got his hands on 11 total rebounds, earning him the statistical achievement of a double-double. Streater earned many of his points at the foul line as he went 11-13, en route to an 84.62 free-throw percentage. Antonio Moffitt (Raleigh, NC) shot 100% from the line by going 2-2, while the squad shot 72% overall from the line.

Look for more men’s basketball action on Thursday, January 5. The Knights will host the Queens University of Charlotte Royals at 7:30 PM.
