Knights Celebrate the Year's End with a Victory

Laurinburg, NC- St. Andrews men’s basketball finished 2011 by adding another win to the books. The Knights hosted the Dragons of Virginia University of Lynchburg for the final non-conference basketball game of the season this evening. After a close game, SAU pulled ahead and maintained a lead until the final buzzer; ending the game with a final score of 72-61 as the Knights advanced to 5-7 overall.

Charlotte, NC, native Ryan Streater led the Knights’ offense by posting 16 points; including one three-pointer, four short range baskets, and five points from the free-throw line. Fellow senior Antonio Moffitt (Raleigh, NC) put up 13 for SAU, with Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) adding 11 and sophomore Jordan Baber (Upper Marlboro, MD) contributing 10.

The Knights worked hard to get to the basket and drew numerous fouls, resulting in 15 free throw attempts for the squad. As a whole, the team shot 60% from the line as Streater and Moffitt each sunk five free-throws.

Under the boards, St. Andrews pulled down 30 rebounds (14 offensive and 16 defensive), giving the Knights several second chance points in tonight’s match up against the Dragons.

SAU will start Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, as they host the Falcons of Pfeiffer University at 7:30 PM. The game will begin at the conclusion of the women’s game which is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM. Be sure you are in the stands on Tuesday to support your Knights as they aim to start 2012 off with a victory.
