Laurinburg, NC- Two St. Andrews University men’s basketball players earned a double-double this evening as the Knights hosted Mars Hill College for a regional match up. Seniors Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) and Michael Dunkins (Candor, NC) each earned the aforementioned statistical achievement tonight when SAU added another win to its record by posting a 114-98 victory over Mars Hill College.

Christian’s double-double resulted from his awareness of the court. Dunkins earned his double-double by working hard on both offense and defense. Sinking five field goals from behind the arc, Dunkins found the hoop all throughout the game and earned a total of 23 points, the team high for the night. Jordan Baber (Upper Marlboro, MD) and Chris Sumski (Charlotte, NC) put on quite a showing for the fans at Harris Court. Baber added 14 points from a combination of short and long range shots, while Sumski found his rhythm from long distance and shot 66.67% from behind the arc as he sunk four three pointers for the Knights.

Defensively, the Knights worked hard under the basket. As a team, SAU pulled down 39 total rebounds. Ryan Streater (Charlotte, NC) crashed the boards and earned nine rebounds, while Ross Williams (Washington, DC) snagged eight.

The Knights have the next week off as they head home to enjoy the holiday season before they return for their final game of 2011.
