Hickory, NC- It was a tough night for St. Andrews men’s basketball as they traveled to Hickory, NC, to go up against the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Knights could not find the basket from outside and were forced to take close jumpers in order to stay in the game. By the end of the night, the Bears pulled too far away from the Knights and left SAU with a 100-62 loss, dropping the squad to 3-7 overall.

Antonio Moffitt (Raleigh, NC) was the go-to man for St. Andrews as he posted 16 total points against the Bears. Moffitt put up seven from short range and shot 100% at the foul line by going 2-2. Adding more than points, Moffitt also grabbed two rebounds and threw one assist.

Contributing the second highest number of points, Ryan Streater, of Charlotte, NC, put 12 on the board for SAU. Streater tied with teammate Ross Williams (Washington, DC) to earn the most rebounds for the ‘Drew with five each. Williams also became a offensive contributor for SAU as made four baskets from around the key.

Marc Newton (Charlotte, NC) sunk two buckets from behind the arc tonight, with senior Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) making the only other three pointer for SAU. Christian worked hard for the Knights’ offense as he passed six assists in addition to scoring six total points.

On a defensive note, Demetrius Monroe (High Point, NC) and Chris Sumski (Charlotte, NC) each earned a block for St. Andrews as they fought to slow down the Bears’ offense.

The Knights will host Mars Hill College on Thursday, December 15, for their final game before Christmas. The men will head to center court for a 6:00 PM tip-off with the Lions.
