Box Score

Pembroke, NC- As the UNCP Holiday Classic came to a close, St. Andrews and Francis Marion took the floor. After a close first half consisting of a lot of back and forth play, the Patriots of Francis Marion stepped up and earned a substantial lead at the beginning of the second period. Despite a late run by the Knights, the Patriots left SAU with a 93-81 loss.

The Knights (0-2 Overall, 0-0 Conference) were able to out-rebound the Patriots (1-1, 0-0) 38-34, but could not seem to get their shots to fall this evening; while Francis Marion shot 57.1% from behind the arc. Ryan Streater (Charlotte, NC) showed his skills by earning 10 rebounds and 14 points for St. Andrews.

Ross Williams (Washington, DC) again led the Knights’ offense. Williams went 10-14 at the line on his way to posting 18 total points for SAU. Fellow guard Aaron Christian (New Bedford, MA) grabbed four steals for the Knights while also throwing six assists and sinking 12 points.

While the Knights tried to use every opportunity that they could to score, Streater’s performance at the line stood out. Streater sunk all four of his free-throws, helping put the team at a free-throw percentage of 77.4.

Chris Sumski (Charlotte, NC) and Michael Dunkins (Candor, NC) were the only Knights to find the basket from long range. Shooting from around the arc, Sumski earned nine points while Dunkins put up six.

The Knights will make their first home appearance of the season on Wednesday, November 16 at 7:30 PM as they host the Bears of Lenior-Rhyne University. Be sure to arrive early to claim your seat for the SAU men’s basketball 2011-2012 home opener.
