HARTSVILLE, S.C.—
Senior Bradley Hippolyte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) made four free straight free throws to pull visiting St. Andrews Presbyterian College to within one point in the final minute of the game but host Coker College made a difficult banked-in three pointer in the final seconds of the game to secure a 68-64 Conference Carolinas men’s basketball victory on Thursday night at Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.

Senior Ryan Fulwood (Cumming, Ga.) threw up the 3-pointer with one second remaining on the shot clock and just seven seconds left in the game to lead the Cobras (9-16 overall; 7-11 Conference Carolinas) to the four-point victory. Hippolyte led the Knights (5-20; 4-14) with a game-high 18 points.

St. Andrews won the first meeting between the two teams, 69-59, on January 24, 2008.

Coker and St. Andrews were evenly matched throughout the game, with the Knights leading by one at the half, 32-31. But thanks to 27 points off the bench and 36 points from beyond the arc, the Cobras were able to take home the victory.

St. Andrews held a 26-24 rebounding advantage while committing one less turnover, 12-11. Coker shot 51.0% from the field including 50.0% (12-for-24) from three-point distance. The Knights shot 47.9% from the floor and 35.7% from behind the arc.

Fulwood was the Cobras leading scorer with 15 points, all from three-point range. Coker hit a total of 12 three-pointers compared to five by SAPC.

Hippolyte scored a game high 18 points for St. Andrews, while sophomore Colby Poe (Bennettsville, S.C.) netted 13 points. A trio of Knights scored eight points including junior Charles Phillips (Decatur, Ga.), freshman Zack Garst (Huntersville, N.C.), and senior Marcus Hoke (Charlotte, N.C.).

Knights’ junior Joseph Gripper (Charlotte, N.C.) added seven points and a team-high six rebounds.

Josh Poston (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and J.C. Hafner (Jefferson, Md.) each scored 11 points.

St. Andrews will celebrate ‘Senior Day’ in Saturday afternoon’s game against conference rival Erskine College. The Knights coaching staff will recognize their seniors before the game that is slated to start at approximately 4:00 p.m.
