HARTSVILLE, S.C.—Four different Knights scored in double digits including sophomore Keith Josey (Norfolk, Va.) tying his season high of 15 points as St. Andrews Presbyterian College finished the regular season with a 74-61 CVAC men’s victory over host Coker College on Thursday night.

The Knights, who have won two straight games finishing the regular season with a 11-16 overall record and a 8-12 mark in the CVAC, took the lead in the first 17 seconds and never relinquished their lead to Coker (7-19 Overall; 4-15 CVAC).

SAPC enters the 2007 CVAC Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will host a first round tourney game on Monday at 7:00 p.m. The Knights will battle the No. 10 seed that is still to be determined (will be either Lees-McRae, Coker, or Anderson).

Senior Richard Stone (Williamsburg, Va.), who scored a team-high 17 points, drained three straight free throws at the 19:43 mark of the first half to give St. Andrews a quick 3-0 lead. The Knights maintained a lead for the rest of the evening coasting to the 13-point victory.

Stone, who ranks currently No. 3 in NCAA Division II in free throw percentage, was once again perfect from the charity stripe making all seven attempts. It was the 16th time this season Stone shot was 100% accurate from the freebee line.

The Cobras just had an off night all around, shooting just 37-percent from the floor and only 35-percent from three-point range. On the other hand St. Andrews was nearly unstoppable, out rebounding Coker 43 to 30 and shooting 48-percent from the field.

For the Knights, junior Taiwon Grooms (Landover, Md.) had a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbed 10 boards. Josey tied his season high of 15 points behind 6-of-7 shooting. Sophomore Charles Phillips (Decatur, Ga.) added 14 points, six rebounds, and a game-high five steals. Sophomore DeRalle Piersall (Dumfries, Va.) chipped in with eight points. Josey and Stone each pulled down five boards.

Ben Brim had a game high 20 points, with four rebounds, while Ryan Fulwood had 12 points and Abram Ludd scored 10 points with nine rebounds. Jason Fulwood ended the night with eight points.
