Keith Williams was named the head coach of the St. Andrews Presbyterian College baseball program in the summer of 2007.
Williams comes to St. Andrews after spending the past nine years as the head baseball coach for NCAA Division III Rutgers University at Camden. Williams will be taking over a successful Knights baseball program that includes a winning record in the team’s 12 year NCAA Division II era and a CVAC Tournament Championship in 2000.
Williams, who captured his 150th victory last season, has produced Scarlet Raptors baseball teams that consistently rank among the top contenders in the powerful New Jersey Athletics Conference. Williams has won 162 games in a Rutgers-Camden uniform (record), leading the Scarlet Raptors to their five highest victory totals in the schools history including a program-record 32 wins in 2002.
While setting numerous records and accomplishments at Rutgers-Camden, Williams highlights include coaching nationally ranked teams in four different years, being named the NJAC Coach of the Year in 2002, and winning the ECAC Metro Championship in 2003.
Williams coached four student-athletes that went on to play professional baseball. Williams also guided 25 All-State, 33 All-Conference, seven All-Region, four All-Academic, four All-Metro, and two South Jersey Division III Player of the Year while at Rutgers-Camden.
The Scarlet Raptors success has been a reflection of Williams own philosophy that hard work, dedication, and team unity form a foundation of success.
Williams’ knowledge of baseball is vast with experience at all levels including college, professional, high school, clubs, camps, and clinics. Williams also has experience as a high school teacher and an assistant director of recreational services.
Williams has already accumulated over 15 years of coaching experience before coming to SAPC. After graduating college Williams spent two years in Australia. During his time Down Under, Williams served as a player/coach that built his Ryde-Eastwood Leagues team into a Pacific Coast power by winning two league championships.
Williams also has served as an assistant coach with the West Deptford Storm of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, and as a player/coach for Mazzucco of the semi-pro Rancocas Valley League. Other coaching experience includes time with AAU’s New Jersey Arsenal, Eastern Regional High School, Camden Catholic High School, and several legion teams.
Williams is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and National Intramural Recreational Sports Association; is First Aid, CPR and AED certified; and is licensed teacher.
Williams graduated from The Catholic University of America with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering while playing ball for the Cardinals for four years.
