"My time here has instilled within me a special kind of character, one that only comes as a result of a community geared toward opening your mind... not just filling your mind with more information."

Baseball Alumni Game a Hit

October 24, 2011

Laurinburg, NC– On Saturday, the Knights competed against the Alumni of the St. Andrews baseball program. The Alumni events started off that morning with a Homerun Derby that was won by former SAPC catcher and Laurinburg native Kyle Norris. Norris battled it out against 11 former and current members of the St. Andrews University baseball program. He and Freshman Matt Beauchemin went to the finals where Norris prevailed. Norris continued this good work for the Alumni by belting one homer and a second shot that hit the top of the fence before it came back onto the field.  Another home grown product and former battery-mate of Norris, Josh Porter, got the Alumni right on track with three great innings to start the game. The alumni game ended up going seven complete innings before both sides called it a day. Other participants for the Alumni Team included Johnny Rhodes, Richie Priest, Will Clark, Jason Catlin, Stewart Redding, Chris Nolan, Dustin Maitland, Cliff Allred, Josh Axelsen, and Joe Critchard. The parents of former baseball player Bryan “BB” Brokaw were in attendance as well. I am sure that after a few months of healing up the Alumni will be looking forward to another strong showing next Fall.
