Game Two of Fall World Series

October 24, 2011

Laurinburg, NC –   The St. Andrews Baseball program has announced that the final three games of the Blue vs White World Series will be played on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. The dates on those games will be October 24 th, 25 th, and the 26 th. As it stands, La Flama Blanca has a commanding 2-0 lead over the Swinging Smurfs.  The La Flama Blanca pitching staff took center stage during game two. Juniors Ryan Pierce and Travis Holland had stellar outings to shut down the Smurf offence. Freshman starter Chris Denno pitched well into the middle innings before being removed from the game. After the call to the Smurf bull-pen, the Blue team threw gas on a flame that had already been lit by Denno and errors from the Smurfs.  The La Flama Blanca hitters then pushed across enough runs to create an insurmountable lead against the Smurfs. The second game of the series finished with a 11-3 final score as La Flama bested the Smurfs. Monday the Smurfs will look to Sophomore Joe McCarty to right the ship and possibly spark a comeback. The Smurfs have chosen freshman JT Howington to take the ball in game three. Howington hopes to continue the good success of the White pitching staff and take the series in a record setting three games. All three games this week will have a scheduled start time of 4:00 pm.

Probable Starters
Tuesday- Kyle Schade (Blue) vs Ryan Pierce (White)
Wednesday- Chris Denno (Blue) vs Travis Holland (White)
