Aiken, S.C. – On Tuesday afternoon St. Andrews (8-30) traveled to South Carolina to take on the Pacers of USC Aiken (23-16). Aiken jumped out early while the Knights could not make their firepower eventually coming up short losing 10-3.
The Pacers scored early and often as they found themselves scoring runs in the 2 nd, 4 th, 5 th, and 6 th while at the same time holding St. Andrews to zero runs making the score 6-0 going into the top of the 7 th. The Knights then put some hits together as Colin Armstrong (Aurora, CO) got on with a single, then Michael Cantwell (Burlington, NJ) later singled to center field as well bringing in Armstrong for the Knights first run of the game. Aiken then made some sloppy plays and errors in the field, which lead to the Knights to capitalize, adding two more runs to the board bridging the gap to 6-3. The Pacers were able to put together a big 8 th inning and add four more runs to their total, putting the game out of reach for St. Andrews final score being 10-3.
Senior Michael Cantwell led the way for the Knights by driving in two RBIs. The Knights take the field again on April 22, as they take on Lander University at home, contest starting at 3 p.m.
