Misenheimer, N.C. – The Knights (8-26, 2- 16) took to the diamond this weekend to compete in a three game series against fellow Conference Carolinas participants Pfeiffer University Falcons (16-24, 9-9). This weekend proved to be a tough one for St. Andrews as they could not seem to get things going dropping all three games to the Falcons.

Game One: Pfeiffer could not seem to do anything wrong on either side of the plate. The Falcons jumped to an early lead by putting up five runs in the first two innings. St. Andrews answered back in the third when T.J. Werner (Burlington, NC) doubled bringing in the Knights first run of the game. The Knights would go on to score a run in the fourth, and four runs in the seventh, but it proved not to be enough as the Falcons scored multiple runs in every inning of the game leading to a St. Andrews loss by the score of 18-6. The standouts for the Knights were T.J. Werner who went 1-4 with two RBIs, while Jake Anderson (Boulder, CO) went 3-5 with an RBI of his own.

Game Two: The next game showed more struggles for St. Andrews as they only managed to pick up one hit during the game on a Jake Anderson single. The Falcons, however, would go on to score runs in the 1 st, 3 rd, 4 th, and 5 th innings ending the game with the final score being 6-0, Falcons victorious.

Game Three: The final game of the series proved to be a close one as the two teams battled it out all the way to the end with the both teams holding leads throughout. Pfeiffer struck first as they scored a run in the bottom of the second. St. Andrews came back with a run of their own in the top of the third due to a Sebastian Ray (Plant City, FL) single. The Knights went on to take the lead in the fourth when Jason Murray (Syracuse, NY) singled to left field, bringing in Ethan Powell (Greenville, NC) for the score. In the seventh, Pfeiffer tied the ball game up only for St. Andrews to once again regain the lead in the top of the ninth, when Jake Anderson singled through the right side putting the Knights up 3-2 going into the bottom of the last inning. St. Andrews all but had the game won then the Falcons managed string together three hits, which led to two runs and a sweep of the series for Pfeiffer final score being 4-3. Jake Anderson led the way for the Knights offense by going 3-4 behind the plate with an RBI. St. Andrews takes to the field next as they travel to Florence S.C. to take on Francis Marion University on Tuesday, game starting at 7 p.m.
