Laurinburg N.C. - On March 18, 2011, St. Andrews College and Athletics Director Glen Batten announced that they will field a JV baseball program starting for the 2011-12 academic year. The JV Baseball team is set to play a limited schedule next fall. The program will be under the direction of Head Varsity Baseball Coach Matt Boykin, but will have its own head coach as well. The head coach of the junior varsity team has yet to be determined.
“I am very excited to be adding JV Baseball to St. Andrews. This creates more opportunities for young men to continue their baseball careers while receiving a first class education.” –Coach Boykin. The JV team will practice and workout with the Varsity team. The main difference will be their competition schedules. “I want to give a special thanks to President Baldasare and Glen Batten for allowing our program this opportunity. This is yet another example of how St. Andrews is committed to providing a complete and well round learning experience in higher education. We plan to use the JV program to as a developmental program to assist our Varsity program.”
If you are interested in becoming a part of the JV program next year at St. Andrews please email Head Coach Matt Boykin at boykinmr@sapc.edu. All NCAA DII eligibility requirements apply for the JV program as well as the Varsity program.
