LAURINBURG, NC—First year head coach Chris Chaffinch and the St. Andrews Presbyterian College baseball team held a dedication ceremony for the Bryan Brokaw Hitting Complex during a CVAC home series against Anderson this past spring.
“I would like to thank Bryan’s family and friends for taking part in this special dedication and weekend,” said Chaffinch. “ Bryan will always be remembered for his tireless work ethic and great personality. His presence is sadly missed, but his memory will definitely not be forgotten. Bryan and his family will always be a part of St. Andrews’ Baseball.”
The coaching staff and alumni of the diamond Knights baseball program started fundraising money to build the Bryan Brokaw Memorial Hitting Complex at their Annual Alumni Game that is played every fall after Brokaw passed away in August of 2004.
In that time, the Knights have made several improvements to their then outdated hitting area. The cages have been completely renovated including adding a 25’ x 75’ concrete pad with AstroTurf carpet covering the whole surface. Also, new steel poles with proper anchoring system have been added along with new netting for the soft toss and tee area.
Chaffinch and the Knights have plans to continue to add to the hitting complex over the next couple of years, making the facility a great asset to the SAPC baseball program. Future plans include a roof with proper lighting for bad weather and night time hitting.
If you would like to make a donation or get more information contact the St. Andrews baseball office at (910) 277-2079. Make all donations to St. Andrews Baseball with a memo made out in Bryan’s name.
