St. Andrews enters CVAC Baseball Tournament as No. 8 seed

THOMASVILLE, NC—St. Andrews Presbyterian College will enter the eight-team 2006 Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference Tournament as the No. 8 seed as announced by the conference office on Saturday night. The Knights draw top seeded Barton in the first round on Friday at 1:00 p.m.

St. Andrews (20-27 overall; 9-15 CVAC), who has finished third in the last two CVAC Baseball Tournaments, will try and get this years run started with a big upset against the Bulldogs. Barton (31-20; 17-6) not only holds the No. 1 seed but will also be hosting the tournament at historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson, NC. The Bulldogs swept this year’s season series with 16-2, 12-2, and 7-3 victories in Wilson.

If the Knights win their opener, they will battle the winner of the No. 4 Limestone/No. 5 Belmont Abbey game on Friday at 7:00 p.m. However, if SAPC drops the first game they will face the loser of the Limestone/Belmont Abbey contest in an elimination game on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

The other half of the tournament bracket features No. 2 Erskine facing No. 7 Anderson and No. 3 Mount Olive taking on No. 6 Pfeiffer.

The CVAC will announce the All-Conference Team, Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year before Friday’s 7:00 p.m. game at Fleming Stadium.
