THOMASVILLE, NC—Cliff Allred (Franklinville, NC) of St. Andrews Presbyterian College (17-18 overall, 6-12 CVAC) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference (CVAC) baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Junior catcher Cliff Allred connected for four home runs in his 9-for-15 (.600) week to help the St. Andrews baseball team to a pair of wins including one against a nationally ranked opponent. Allred started the week with a perfect 4-for-4 performance in the Knights 10-2 victory over No. 25 Lander University on Tuesday. Allred hit a two-run blast and drove in three runs in the upset win. Allred almost single-handedly kept SAPC in their series-opener against CVAC rival Anderson, collecting three hits including a pair of two-run home runs and a game-high 5 RBI in a close 12-10 defeat. Allred capped his week with a 2-for-3 performance with two walks in the Knights 13-4 victory over the Trojans. Allred, who had three RBI and a trio of runs in the contest, ripped his fifth home run in as many games.

Allred’s nine home runs on the season rank him amongst the league leaders. Allred finished the week with four home runs, 11 RBI, and six runs. Allred is batting .336 on the season and leads the Knights with nine home runs, 34 rbi, 10 doubles, and .647 slugging percentage.

Allred and the Knights will go for their fourth victory against a nationally ranked team when they battle No. 17 Armstrong Atlantic State University on Tuesday in neutral Florence, SC, on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. St. Andrews will then host CVAC foe and No. 7 South Atlantic regionally ranked Erskine College for a three-game weekend series. Friday’s opener starts at 1:00 p.m. while Saturday’s doubleheader is slated for a Noon first pitch.
