"After graduation from St. Andrews, I returned to California and spent two years working at a Non-Profit, The California Alliance of Child and Family Service, and volunteering for a West Sacramento Community Clinic running their HIV prevention program for at risk youth and adults. A year into that I got the itch to travel, but also wanted to continue doing HIV work, so Peace Corps was a logical decision.

"The incredible education I received at St. Andrews has made the 'hardest job you'll ever love' (a Peace Corps saying), easy. From the classroom learning of Neal Bushoven's honors program to the globe trotting experiences of Brunnenburg, Italy, Vietnam and two trips to Cuba, I was groomed to live in a developing nation with a culture completely different than mine. I love this life, I love the work, and I love the travel. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't put my St. Andrews education to use. It was after all Neal who taught me to be a traveler and not a tourist, and to this day I am still thanking him." (2006)
