To
study psychology is to examine the human experience. Through the study
of psychology we seek to understand how and why people, think, feel and
behave as they do. Psychology is an art and a science. In it efforts to
discover the unifying principles underlying behavior, it is a science;
in its efforts to apply those principles to meet the various needs of
individuals and groups, it is an art.
At
St. Andrews, we strongly emphasize hands-on laboratory experience, beginning
with your very first psychology class. In fact, our program has been highly
prized for offering research opportunities far beyond those typically
offered to undergraduates at other colleges and universities. Your research
experiences can furnish you with an unquestionable competitive advantage
when applying to graduate school or for first jobs.
With
a 10:1 student-to-faculty ratio, St. Andrews students can and do enjoy
the benefits of their professors personal, conscientious attention
to their studies and their research projects. Your psychology professors
will work closely with you to develop not only your psychology course
work and laboratory experiences, but also your internships and other career
development activities.
