The Highland Players
   

In the Visual & Performing Arts major, students may have a concentration in theatre arts.  Theatre at St. Andrews has been an always changing program over the years.

St. Andrews puts on at least two main productions each year, one in the fall and one in the spring, with other performances often done by Highland Players, a student run organization. To find out more information on Highland Players click here .  Some productions St. Andrews has put on over the past few years have been:

-Three Penny Opera
-All in the Timing by David Ives
-Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
-Cabaret
-The Crucible by Arthur Miller
-Raney, based on the book by North Carolina author Clyde Edgerton
-Mirrors of New Orleans, a production created from news articles and stories about New Orleans by faculty, staff and students after Hurricane Katrina happened

In addition to putting on productions, students in the theatre arts program at St. Andrews will take classes on a variety of subjects about theatre. Examples of courses you might take include:

-Intro to Theatre
- Theatre History
- Directing
- Acting
- Playwriting
- Technical Theatre & Design

Students are also encouraged to do independent studies which can focus on any number of subject areas such as dramaturgy, lighting, or scene painting. Students may also do any projects, internships or community outreaches that they desire.
