After Core Spanish: Spanish minor

After St. Andrews students complete their core 6 credits in Spanish, they have the option of

  1. taking a specialized course in professional Spanish (generally 3 to 6 credits),
  2. pursuing a minor in Spanish (generally 12 additional credits).

The Spanish minor is for St. Andrews’ students wishing to develop an increased proficiency in conversation and an increased understanding of Hispanic culture. At this level, students are encouraged to express their opinions about a variety of topics (politics, travel, literature, current issues, etc.). In addition, students are introduced to canonical literary works in Spanish in a creative environment. The goal of the Spanish minor is to further communicative competency for future work with the Hispanic community or to prepare students for graduate school.
