Live via the web option coming to MBA Program

Laurinburg, NC - Beginning in August, the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) offered on the campus of St. Andrews University will include the “live via the web” option.

Live via the web is a synchronous live streaming of the MBA classes that will allow students to participate in the classroom experience, interacting with fellow classmates and the professor, from a distance.

“We are excited to be able to serve people in Scotland County and across the country with the latest implementation of technology,” said Dr. Wayne Freeman, director of the MBA program. “This is an enormous step beyond online courses. Participants will have greater convenience and flexibility without losing the personal connections with the professors and classmates.”

The live via the web classes will be held in conjunction with the traditional in-seat courses, with a limited residency expected to be a part of the program for those utilizing the live via the web option.

“One of the great pieces of the MBA program is the personal attention provided,” said Freeman. “It is something we take pride in and we want to make sure that even with the distance learners that experience carries over.”

The plans for the live via the web option also include the recording of the class sessions so that it can be used for review or be viewed at an alternate time if there is a scheduling conflict.

“We will be encouraging students to log-in during the scheduled class time as much as possible in order to more fully develop the meaningful connections with the professors and the other MBA students,” said Freeman. “However, we recognize that the students need the flexibility of watching the class at a later time. The recording can also be used by the in-seat students to review items, particularly concepts that are moving to a new level of understanding for the business world.”

The program on the Laurinburg campus began in the fall of 2012 with the first graduates recognized during the May 3 Commencement Ceremony. With four points of entry for the program, a student can earn an MBA in as little as 18 months when enrolled full-time and in 36 months as a part-time student. Designed for the working professional, classes meet one night per week from 6 - 10 p.m.

The deadline is approaching for fall admission. For additional information, visit the website at http://www.sapc.edu or contact Admissions Counselor Megan Harvey at 910-277-5148 or harveyma@sapc.edu.
