SAU Hunter Seat Team extends regional lead to 33 points
The St. Andrews University Hunter Seat Team earned a third victory on the season at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition Sunday hosted by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
It came down to the final St. Andrews rider, Danielle Eads, winning her class to allow the team to finish with 40 points on the day.
The win extends the team’s regional points lead to 33 over second place UNC-W. East Carolina, Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill round out the top five.
Regina Barasch won her over fences class and Kelsey Kocher won her over fences class and her flat class.
Novice riders Emilee Wilson and Emily McBee brought home second places in their flat and over fences classes respectively.
Cami Glaff and Janie Malott contributed fourth place finishes to the team effort. Alexandra Fullerton and Glaff brought home third place finishes in Intermediate Flat.
Nikki Napoleone contributed a fourth place and Kimmy O’Keefe a fifth place in Intermediate over fences. In Advanced Walk, Trot, Canter, Mary Thomson won the first section and Grace Wadford won the second section.
The team will next compete at home on Nov. 16.
