SAU equestrian competitors have strong start to season

Riders from the St. Andrews University equestrian program competed at two shows over the weekend.

The Hunter Seat Team finished fifth at the Tournament of Champions held at Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va. Two riders from St. Andrews also competed at the Carolina Starz Horse Show in Camden, S.C.

Cami Glass and Emilee Wilson led the way for the Hunter Seat Team, earning first place in novice over fences and novice flat respectively. Kim O’Keefe finished first in both over fences and on the flat, while also adding a fifth place finish for the over fences individual.

Regi Barasch contributed a fifth place finish in the over fences open class. Jessica Story was sixth in walk, trot, canter flat as was Jake Hobson in walk, trot flat.

At the Carolina Starz competition, Grace Wadford was the Champion in Pre Child/Adult Equitation while Brianna Harrison earned Reserve Champion in the Adult Equitation.

The St. Andrews Western Team will start out the competition season this weekend hosting a pair of shows at the Equestrian Center on Hasty Road.
