SAU scrimmages against USC
Laurinburg, N.C. – Over the weekend the St. Andrews University Equestrian Center hosted the University of South Carolina Gamecocks for a scrimmage in both the Hunter Seat and Western disciplines.
“It was an excellent opportunity for both schools to practice their teams against different opponents and add to their competitive arsenals,” said Peggy McElveen, director of the equestrian program at St. Andrews.
While points were not totaled, St. Andrews won seven of the 13 classes. Riders competed for brushes, ball caps and M&Ms instead of ribbons to add to the fun of the day.
First place finishes were contributed by Alexandra Fullerton, Dara Corbett, Michelle Hustad, Sami Cram, Logan Teeter and Ella Brave.
Second place finishes were contributed by Julie Griffin and Erin Hudson.
Katie Hansen, Brittany Powell, Tyler Gritzuk, Katie Mosca, and Kali Cram had third place finishes. Fourth places finishes were contributed by Shiloh Kozlowski, Cami Glaff, Mia Dipillo, Kirsten Farley, Lindsey Agaliotis and Erica LeSeur.
Fifth place finishes went to Madison Edwards, Regi Barasch, Anastasia MacNaught, Ella Brave and Jake Nix. Chandalyn Chrzanowski and Tara Algieri contributed sixth place finishes.
The Hunter Seat team for St. Andrews will host an Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition on Saturday at the Suzanne Mott Dansby Arena at the St. Andrews Equestrian Center.
