Alexa Muraida '09 wins design award
It was in the middle of May when Alexa Muraida opened an unexpected letter from GraphicDesign USA Magazine.
The letter informed the 2009 St. Andrews graduate that she had been selected as a winner for the 2012 American InHouse Design Awards.
The American InHouse Design Awards is the original and biggest showcase for outstanding work by inhouse designers. More than 4,000 entries were received for this year's awards.
Muraida earned recognition for an annual report and a utility bill insert.
"I was on cloud nine when I realized what this meant," she shared via email. "The first people on my mind to show this to and share this with were my parents, my brother and the McDavids."
Stephanie and Chris McDavid are the art professors at St. Andrews who provided the art major through the curriculum during her years in Laurinburg.
"I wouldn't be where I am today without them," Muraida said. "They are the best art professors anyone could ask for."
Muraida plans to continue working in art related positions, sharing future accomplishments with her mentors as she moves forward.
"We are so proud of what Alexa has accomplished," Stephanie McDavid said. "We shared her good news with colleagues on campus and everyone is thrilled."
