St. Andrews Equestrians place third at Tournament of Champions

The St. Andrews Presbyterian College equestrian team placed third at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s (IHSA) Tournament of Champions competition over the weekend.

Virginia Intermont took first place with Delaware Valley College second at the event held at Chatham Hall. West Virginia University and Mt. Holyoke rounded out the top five in the competition.

“Tournament of Champions is a series in the team tournament format of the IHSA National Collegiate Cup competition,” said Peggy McElveen, director of the St. Andrews equestrian program. “Each team brings one rider in each of the eight IHSA class divisions; all are riding for team points against the best 8 riders from the best teams from all across the country.”

A total of 21 teams competed.
