St. Andrews art students put on show at Bella Notte

Laurinburg, N.C. – For an aspiring artist, one of the most important opportunities is that of displaying work for the public.

Beginning in mid-October, nine members of the St. Andrews Presbyterian College artistic community have been doing just that at Bella Notte.

“We had the opportunity to allow our drawing class students to put up a show thanks to the collaboration with Tamera Tietjen at Bella Notte,” said Professor Stephanie McDavid. “While each year our seniors do an art show at the end of the year, we’ve had limited opportunities in the past to display student work in the community on this scale.”

The students with work on display include seniors Patrick Osborne, Allison Brewer and Leah Davison; juniors Sharon Patton, Dylan Mercer, and Andrea Tito; and sophomore Nasra Chatman.

Most of the pieces on display are for sale and within 24 hours of the show being posted one of the artists had a new piece commissioned by a member of the community.

“Our students set their own prices on the pieces,” said McDavid. “We have committed that as each piece sells we will replace it with a new piece. It will provide us with an opportunity to continue to display the works while also enhancing our relationship with the local community.”
