Jaci Ayers qualified for the Regional Finals by winning her class . A junior rider from Raleigh, Jaci is the first rider from Zone 4 to qualify for the Finals.
Both Megan Stiles and Hayley White won their classes. Competing in novice flat, freshman rider Audrey Bolte took second place in her first intercollegiate show. Jessica Randall also took second place in walk trot.
The temperature was in the 70's when the St. Andrews equestrians left Laurinburg. When they arrived in Blacksburg, Va., they found the temperature at a cool 42 degrees. There was a special presentation during the equestrian show to the parents of Emily Hilsher. Emily was one of the students killed on April 16 and was a member of the Virginia Tech Riding Team. A special intercollegiate scholarship has been established in her name and all riders in Zone 4 (North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland) are eligible to apply. |
