Art and English

Zach Miller

Class of 2008

Middletown, Delaware

Academic Major

My major is Art, and I have a minor in English.  I originally did not start my academic career as an art major.  I was heavily involved in art as a career path in high school, and eventually after having a long talk with Chris and Stephanie McDavid, who are the art professors here, I knew that was the right choice for me.

Meaningful Experience

The St. Andrews experience that has meant the most to me, is having the opportunity to travel to Italy for three months and to stay in a 12th century castle as part of the study abroad program.  Brunnenburg, as it is called, allowed eleven students, one professor and I to travel all over Italy and Europe, as well as take twelve credits.  It was truly a lifetime experience that I will never forget.

Extracurricular Involvement

At St. Andrews, I have been able to establish a personal relationship with almost every student and faculty member here.  This has allowed me to build a credible reputation and to hold positions on Student Government and the Student Judicial Committee, as well as a position as a Resident Assistant in one of  the upperclassmen dorms.

Being on the Lacrosse team, we feel that it is extremely important to get involved with the community around the school. This way we maintain a high standard for ourselves outside the campus.  We also do this as a way to gain support as a respectable program that is continuing to grow very rapidly.

St. Andrews Faculty

Business Professor Dr. Doug Glass has made a very large impact on me as a student here at St. Andrews.  He leads our FCA program, and he is the type of guy who will come out to our lacrosse practice to give us some encouragement, and also the type of professor who will challenge you in the classroom.

Why St. Andrews?

Students should consider St. Andrews because you truly walk away  after four years saying, “Wow, what a great place that has changed my life in a positive way”.  The education, the people, and the campus created a community that prepared me for the next level.
